Bellamy Genn Adds Maryland Senate Chairman’s Legislative Director as Government Relations Associate

(Annapolis, MD) May 18, 2020. Rylie Shewbridge joins Bellamy Genn Group.

Bellamy Genn Group, LLC (Bellamy Genn) is an Annapolis-based Government Relations firm operating in the State of Maryland and the District of Columbia and is excited to welcome Rylie Shewbridge to the firm as a Government Relations Associate.

Prior to joining Bellamy Genn, Rylie was honored to work for the newly appointed Chairman of the Judicial Proceedings Committee, Senator William C. Smith, Jr. as his Legislative Director. In this capacity, Rylie worked diligently to advance the Chairman’s legislative priorities. Rylie worked closely with the Chairs of the Maryland Senate and House Committees, their respective key staff, coalitions, lobbyists, and advocacy groups.

Rylie’s interest in developing a career in state and local government began during her internship in college working for Senator Paul Pinsky, now current Chairman of the Senate Education, Health, and Environmental Affairs Committee. After graduation, she immediately returned to Annapolis and began working for Senator Smith as his Legislative Aide where she managed constituent services, built relationships throughout the local community, and provided legislative and administrative input for the office.

After two legislative sessions with Senator Smith, Rylie began working at Maryland Municipal League (MML) as the Executive Assistant to the Executive Director. During her time at MML, Rylie developed close relationships with municipal officials and knowledge of municipal government. She worked closely with the MML Board of Directors and the National League of Cities. Rylie later worked for a prominent Annapolis-based law and government relations firm where she advocated and lobbied for client’s legislative and procurement agendas and developed close interpersonal relationships with the elected officials and their respective staff.

Bellamy Genn’s Managing Partner and Founder, Lorenzo Bellamy, said “I am very pleased to have Rylie join our team. Her energy, analytical skills, experience and knowledge of the workings of the Maryland General Assembly, and her reputation among legislators and local officials throughout the state further expands our firm’s ability to offer the best to our clients. Rylie’s ‘no job is too difficult to succeed’ attitude compliments our firm’s character, personality and commitment to cultural fluency.”

Partner Gil Genn said “Rylie brings great synergy to our expanding team — a proven track record of success, strategic thinking, focused energy, and tenacity balanced with an engaging personality that the legislators and staff tell us is the reason she is so welcomed in their offices.”

Rylie said “I am truly honored to join the diverse and dynamic team at Bellamy Genn Group. I admire their dedication and passion in representing their clientele on a variety of issues. I look forward to expanding my knowledge of policy, cultivating relationships, and continuing to work with elected officials across the State in this exciting new chapter!”

Rylie brings a diverse range of relationships to the firm. Born and raised in Cumberland, Maryland, Rylie is very proud of her hometown and the Western Maryland Region. She received a B.A. in Political Science and Conflict Analysis & Dispute Resolution, Cum Laude, from Salisbury University on the Eastern Shore. She now resides in Annapolis, MD.
