Ex-LG Candidate Lands at Annapolis Lobbying Shop
Luwanda W. Jenkins, the veteran government, corporate and civic official who most recently was a candidate for lieutenant governor in the Democratic primary, is joining the Bellamy Genn Group LLC, an Annapolis lobbying firm, as senior government relations associate.
Jenkins, who had high-ranking positions in state government under Democratic Govs. Martin J. O’Malley and Parris N. Glendening, ran for lieutenant governor this year on a ticket headed by state Sen. Richard S. Madaleno Jr. (D-Montgomery). She has also been chief of staff to the Coppin State University president; a top official at the Greater Baltimore Committee; vice president for Community Relations & Diversity at The Cordish Companies; and community relations director for both CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield and The Baltimore Sun.
“I am pleased to have Luwanda join us,” Lorenzo Bellamy, the firm’s managing partner and founder, said in a statement. “Her extensive knowledge of Maryland procurement and
deep bipartisan relationships across Maryland and at the federal level will be a significant benefit to our current and expanding family of clients who will be well served by this trusted and knowledgeable advisor.”
The Annapolis lobbying world is continually evolving and growing. In recent weeks, high-profile departures from the venerable firm Alexander & Cleaver, PA have captivated the State House universe. But other firms continue to quietly expand.
Bellamy Genn is a relative newcomer to the scene, though its principals, Bellamy and former Del. Gilbert J. Genn (D-Montgomery), have been working as lobbyists for years.
“I look forward to adding value to this dynamic team and exploring new territory,” Jenkins said.
