Jenkins joins lobbying corps at Bellamy Genn

One Annapolis lobbying firm is beefing up its roster, adding a former candidate for lieutenant governor.

Luwanda Jenkins, who most recently ran as Sen. Richard Madaleno’s running mate in the 2018 gubernatorial primary, will join Bellamy Genn Group as senior government relations associate.

Lorenzo Bellamy, managing partner and founder, said Jenkins “extensive knowledge of Maryland procurement and deep bipartisan relationships across Maryland and at the federal level will be a significant benefit to our current and expanding family of clients who will be well served by this trusted and knowledgeable adviser.”

Jenkins, 56,  served in senior and Cabinet-level positions under Democratic former Govs. Martin O’Malley, Parris Glendening and William Donald Schaefer.  She also served as  chief of staff to the Coppin State University president, chief operating officer of the Greater Baltimore Committee LEADERship program, vice president of community relations and diversity for The Cordish Companies, as well as community relations director for both CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield and The Baltimore Sun.

In February, Jenkins, who had never run for political office, was tapped as running mate to Madaleno, a Democrat from Montgomery County. The pair’s personal relationship dates back more than two decades. Both were mentored by former Del. Howard “Pete” Rawlings, a Baltimore Democrat who chaired the House Appropriations Committee from 1992 until 2003.
